Many thanks to Barbara Young for her super article in this months British Dressage Magazine. I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to their series on young horse training and the positive feedback I've received already has been great. Thanks to everyone who's rung, texted or emailed.

Combining the principles of Natural Horsemanship within a Dressage training system based on communication, trust and mutual respect
Most people see the dressage rider and natural horseman standing at opposite ends of the training spectrum. One focussing on the physical development of the horse and the other on the mental and emotional side of the equation. I prefer to see them standing shoulder to shoulder sharing their individual expertise towards the common goal of creating a happy athlete.
Having been horse-mad for as long as I can remember and having ridden from the age of four, I have been lucky enough to work with and train horses full-time, all my life from leaving school. This has provided me with over 25 years of invaluable professional experience.
My main interest as a teenager was eventing but I later specialised in dressage, becoming a BHSII, British Dressage Group 3 rider and Registered Trainer. Also, over the last ten years I've developed a keen interest in natural horsemanship and equine behaviour, finding ways to incorporate this into a calm and non-confrontational training system both for competition and pleasure horses alike. I am now also a Recommended Associate of Kelly Marks Intelligent Horsemanship Association. Problem solving remedial issues and starting young horses are also of particular interest to me.
The fascination with horses is that you can never stop learning from them, but you have to want to learn and want to open your mind.
My key influences have been Monty Roberts and Christopher Bartle.
From my East Midlands base at Centre-Lines near Newark in Nottinghamshire, I take a more holistic view to offer a diverse and comprehensive range of services for not just dressage enthusiasts but also anyone else who shares the common interest of simply enjoying being involved with horses.
Please have a browse through the different sections and I hope you enjoy my site.
