Kirsty Watkinson & Mr. Breckles |
|
Carrie took Brecks, my rising 5 year-old horse in on full training livery, to restart his education. After initially visiting Carrie, and her yard, I was very impressed with her honesty, the relaxed atomosphere and excellent training facilities. I thought this made for the perfect environment for Brecks to learn in.
When he first arrived at Carries yard, his manners were poor and his temper was bad and his attitude was that of a typical adolescent teenager. He had me on the floor more often than on his back, not surprisingly leading to his nickname "asbo" !

The training that Carrie applied with him, was varied, including ground and round-pen work and his ridden work was tailored individually to suit him. Her sympathetic but firm attitude towards the horse soon lead to visible results.
Brecks was well behaved and had learnt respect but not spelt f-e-a-r. |
Kirsty having a jumping lesson with reformed ASBO Brecks |
Carrie then started lessons with both of us, these were non conventional and designed to get the best out of both of us, encouraging a forward going and more confident pair. After 5 weeks of training we were able to box him up without a problem and go hacking through the nearby woods, jumping fallen down trees along the paths. |
|
Since having him home his manners have improved 100%, I am now able to hack out alone and he is much more forward going and very sensible in traffic and with any obstacles. I can also load him alone and he has massively improved with the farrier. We are continuing our lessons with Carrie most weekends, concentrating mainly on jumping.
Sincere thanks to Carrie for her hard work, restoring our confidence, making us independant and continuing our development together.
