We are very pleased to be running this one-day course again this year

Combined Pilates and Riding Course
With a Dismounted Option

Have fun improving your body awareness, improving your horses performance & relieving tension before you ride !
Riders devote hours of their time to working on their horses' fitness,
but how much time do they spend on their own ?
Why not try Pilates to help achieve the right amount of suppleness and core stability ?
Developed over 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates, the Pilates Method is used increasingly in medicine, top-level sport and the performing arts. It is a body conditioning method that targets the deep postural muscles and builds strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment.
On this course the exercises will be modified to specifically help riders improve their core stability, body control and independent aids through their seat, legs and hands. You will achieve the perfect balance between strength and flexibility, plus it's a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension !

In the morning Joan will work with you using Pilates movements, exercises and breathing techniques, to help improve your core stability, co-ordination and balance.
This will also include the use of physioballs to help replicate riding positions, so be prepared for lots of fun and hilarity !
You will also be shown a useful warming-up routine to use before you ride. This should help improve your movement, range and comfort on the horse.
After lunch it will then be time to ride and put into practise the techniques you've been working on in the morning. |
"The more prepared physically you are to react and perform with your horse, the more confident you will feel" Jon Pitts BSc in sports science

Carrie will teach you, in small groups, how to train your horse whilst using these new skills to improve your body awareness, posture and balance.
Dismounted students will have an assessment with Carrie from their DVD/Video and Joan will then identify specific exercises for you to work on.
The iJoy Ride will also be available to practise on.
The afternoon will then be rounded-off with a final warming-down exercise session to help relieve any tensions and to leave you feeling nice and relaxed. |
